- The Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) was established in 1896 to preserve the history and to honor the memory of those who fought for the Confederate States of America.
- You are cordially encouraged to join the Fincastle Rifles Camp, your local chapter of the SCV. Our monthly meetings are a window into the past. Speakers, some with national reputations, help to educate us so that we more fully understand and appreciate what our ancestors endured during Americas greatest conflict.
Some of the camps activities include: beautification of veterans graves, Lee-Jackson commemoration, Civil War shows, picnics, preservation of historic monuments, houses, battlefields, and the flag.
Do you feel your Southern heritage is important and worth preserving? Do you enjoy the friendship and fun with a group dedicated not only to talking about war history, but also doing something? If so, there is a place for you in the ranks of the Fincastle Rifles.
Our membership is open to any male descendant of a Confederate soldier, sailor, or civil servant that served honorably. We are a non-political, non-religious, non-racist organization.
Dues are $36 per year and each member receives a copy of our national magazine The Confederate Veteran. Also, our local camp newsletter The Firing Line.
We work closely with, and will be happy to supply information on, The United Daughters of the Confederacy and The Children of the Confederacy.
Now is the time for action: the Confederacy needs all of her sons. Take your rightful place in the ranks of the Fincastle Rifles Camp. We are determined that the names and the memories of those who struggled so valiantly for the Confederate States of America shall not perish from the face of the earth.
